Each year, nearly 60,000
children die in the U.S. Caring for a critically or terminally ill child is
an overwhelming experience, requiring families to face complex emotional,
financial, medical and ethical issues. It is often a lonely and painful
journey, because relatives, friends, the community and healthcare professionals
struggle with how they can be supportive.
This compelling film and
handbook provide welcome guidance for those wanting to offer compassionate care
to families while a child is dying.
The family experience film tells the real-life stories of four culturally and economically diverse families who lost a child... in their own voices... from their own perspective.
The supportive care handbook provides a discussion guide, suggests specific ways to help, and identifies a broad range of resources.
